Catherine & Jayce

Catherine was my college roommate my junior year in the Delta Gamma house. Jayce was at Ole Miss when we were there, but they later met each other and fell in love after graduation in Houston, TX. Honestly, I always thought Catherine would get married in Oxford because her family has a strong love for all things Ole Miss, but as much as she talked about Shreveport that year we lived together, I should have known Shreveport was the only option! Ha! And, we had just done her sisters wedding in Oxford the year before.. and repeating is not an option! We were both hospitality management majors together and she was working in the events/hotel world in Houston at the time of their engagement. Catherine text me a picture of her ring the day she got engaged while I was sitting on the beach with friends. I literally spewed my beverage because I was totally shocked, and, it is a GORGEOUS oval cut set in yellow gold! :) I knew the engagement would be soon, but I had no idea it would be that weekend while she was traveling to Georgia to visit his family! Once again, I kind of thought it might be in Oxford in the next month or so once football season started! I immediately assumed she would hire an old family friend to take care of the wedding and I would be a bridesmaid. She started asking me about dates that I didn't have book for the following May and I still just assumed it was so that I could be in her wedding. I was honored when she asked me and the Stella team to help with the weekend coordinating. She had all of the planning down with a few of my opinions thrown in there, but the Stella girls were off to Shreveport to do our first out of state wedding!

When the invitation arrived in the mail, it came in an oversized blush envelope with the address in gold calligraphy. The invitation itself was on an ecru card with a gold foil edging and was printed in gold thermography. All of the wording had been hand calligraphied.. it was stunning and set the tone for the church!

Catherine wore a classic yet very unique blush pink wedding gown by Ramona Keveza and carried and all white and ivory bouquet. The bridesmaids wore Monique Lhuillier light gray (with heavy purple tones) long dresses and carried bouquets of soft ivory and pale pink. Early on, we decided to keep the church flowers very traditional and classic to match the style of the church. We kept in the same purple and pink color palate, just very muted! At the reception, we mixed in a few silver mercury vases to tie in the gray of the dresses and blend the mixed metals.

Fresh Cut made the road trip with us and took care of the catering, florals, and linens. The gold tone on tone snakeskin linens that we used throughout are still some of my favorites! I worked with Wendy and Catherine via Facetime and email weeks before the wedding to iron out the exact flower details. I convinced Catherine to let Wendy use some of my favorite gold symmetrical "containers" to set her floral upon, and to this day it is one of my absolute event designs I have been involved with! We brought in pink specialty lighting to tie in the fuschia elements such as the custom monogram napkins used at the reception and some of the flowers being used in all of the arrangements. 14 Karat Gold kept guests on the dance floor and 601 Spring served as the perfect venue in downtown Shreveport with a beautiful sunset view over the river. The evening ceremony took place in her home church which is First United Methodist Church at "the head of Texas Street"--- it is stunningly beautiful!! Shane at Silver Palate Cakery made the stunningly gorgeous and absolutely delicious brides cake and the grooms Colonel Reb cake! The grooms table had a green cloth on it and the multiple cheesecakes, red velvet cupcakes and the colonel reb cake were displayed on wood stumps to bring in "The Grove." Ole Miss decor also adorned his area. Photography by Scarlett and Cupio Media both captured the day through photography and videography. Custom white soft seating was rented through Moss at Pelican Rentals.

Here is a peek at my personal pictures from this stunningly beautiful event. I LOVED her bright pinks and purples floral color palate mixed with the gold. Truly, this is one of my most favorite events we have done to date and I say it's because two event planners and an excellent floral designer truly came together to create something different, yet classic!
