McLain Lodge: Mallory & Devin Cooper

Last May, we had the pleasure of coordinating the beautiful wedding of Mallory Cutrer and Devin Cooper at McClain Lodge in Brandon, MS. This pretty on the outside, but even prettier on the inside couple just announced on their one year anniversary weekend that they are expecting a sweet baby! We couldn't be more overjoyed for them and their families!

While we didn't plan the rehearsal dinner, I heard the plans and I loved that they based it all around the gathering of their family and friends! The majority of the wedding party had traveled far to spend the weekend with them. Fortunately, McClain Lodge is perfect for gathering and the families and rented all of the lodging facilites. A chef in the family prepared the meal and the group gathered over food and games, enjoying each others company before and after the rehearsal. In my opinion, that is what rehearsal dinners and wedding eve's should be made of-- classic, relaxed, intimate meal and gathering with those in your closest circle!

So, let's get on to this fabulous wedding!! I worked with the Mother of the Bride on most all of the wedding plans as the couple was living in New Orleans. She coordinated the floral details through her sister, Ginger, who does amazing beautiful work! We menu planned and had a signature drink that was a favorite of the couples, all provided by McClain Catering. And, the Mother of the Bride coordinated a pale blue wedding cake at the request of the bride through their favorite bakery, Olexa's in Birmingham, Alabama. The groom works in the movie and film industry of New Orleans and loves The Hobbit. Olexa's created his "Shire" cake and we turned the corner into a movie reel and "Hobbit" themed area of the reception to show his personality, complete with movie popcorn, candy, and a showing of The Hobbit behind the cake. Guests loved it and it was most definitely the talk of the reception.. Olexa's KNOCKED THE CAKES OUT OF THE PARK!! Apollo Event Lighting provided accent lighting and guests danced to tunes of a local band! As the night came to an end, the couple led the second line out of the reception and to their vintage convertible get-a-way car, provided by Bridal Rides.

A favorite moment of the night was the "garter toss" when Devin threw Mardi Gras beads instead of a garter. It was such a cute idea for those that find the garter a little too much or embarassing! He had them in his hand when he pretended to reach for the garter, acted like he was taking the garter off, and then surprisingly threw a few strands of beads to the single gentlemen waiting!

Elizabeth Lafargue Photography was the exceptional photographer of the entire weekend. Below are some of her photos. We highly recommend her!
